How big is Africa?

Often a bugbear of many academics and teachers is when pupils refer to Africa as if it were one homogenous (identical) block, rather than a continent made up of 54 different countries, with different histories, cultures, languages and economies.

A question for you - how large is the continent of Africa? Which other countries would fit inside the continent of Africa with ease?
